BLINDER only service products under warranty if they have the Australia CPU, BLINDER has a unique 2 year warranty which will be void if you buy an overseas model. It is a waste of time and money. A: Sorry – ONLY AU CPU’s Ver.2 AU-1922* will accept the Australian Firmware.

There are a few different CPUs now in operation. Example USA, Hungary, Australia and other parts of Europe. Blinder has only recently completed the AU version, with new updates just released. Optimal performance is achieved by only loading the threat configurations that are needed into the look-up table. This aids in fast detection and jamming. A trade off in performance is some times necessary when a large number of laser threats are configured at the same time. This impacts on the amount of filtering that can be applied. The best outcome is achieved with only those threats necessarily configured into the system.
To avoid cross compatibility issues the hardware is designed to only accept firmware upgrades from the country of sale. It is not advisable to purchase a BLINDER model from one country and try and use it in another country. Compatablity issues could leave you exposed to unwanted threats.
The AU Version was also optimised to perform against the Laser Poliscan Speed Cameras. This version the transponder sensitivity is fully under CPU control. The combination of the new transponders and full CPU control of sensitivity makes the units even more sensitive to very narrow laser beams that have little spread over distance, such as the Laser Atlanta etc. The laser beam can be on the very edge of the car and still be picked up well.
The AU version caters for only those laser systems used in Australia and New Zealand. You can get an International CPU and load every threat into the system, however it will not react at optimum efficiency.

Some countries only use a limited number of laser speed detection devices. For this reason BLINDER firmware upgrades are tailored to meet the requirements for specific countries in which they are sold.

- NO 2 Year Warranty – US CPU’s are not covered under our Australia no hassle 2 year Warranty
- NO AU Firmware updates – People with US Blinder CPU’s with have already tried updating with the AU Firmware with no luck, we have been contacted at this time.
- Unable to Claim through Blinder.us – Blinder will only support warranties with a valid receipt – to obtain warranty you will need the grey-market importer to ship the item back to where they bought it from. The supplier in the US will then ship the item to Blinder.us From here they will determine if the product is faulty & covered under warranty. Who is going to pay for all these postage costs?

If you want to avoid tax buy importing or buying an imported product, say goodbye to your 2 year warranty. If you needed to make a warranty claim on your laser jammer and they were purchased from an unauthorised reseller, you would not be eligible to have it replaced by us, or Blinder Australia. The only way of succeeding in a claim would be you would have to post it back to where ever the importer is (where are they!?) and then they would have to post it the retailer who illegally sold them the products near wholesale, the retailer would then have to send it to their distributor (probably blinder.us) and then it would be analysed there. Who is going to pay for all these postage costs?

The reason that we use “country specific firmware” is to limit the need to have the in-built filtering in this CPU wide open to cater for all the LIDAR threats in the world. Wide open filtering could make your product prone to false alarms which is not what anyone wants. Correct filtering is an important issue that we take seriously.
